The colours remind me of Marram grass blowing in the wind, and as you seem to be leaning towards a 'nature ' theme on a name what about ' Marram ' ? :)

Geology and Palaeontology sound a little clunky for the hat?? but the words you used to describe why you wanted to use the words seemed perfect. How's about Strata and Ammonite? :?

You're right...the decrease creates an amazing, eye catching design. Very alive...and reflective of nature. I'm sure color does help with that...but that's part of what makes the hat. I LOVE it. good luck finding a name. Wish I had a suggestion.
