your last sentence is spot on - apart from anything else, if you like the colour you're wearing, you'll FEEL happy so you'll LOOK happy :)

and you're right about trying new colours - i'm surprised every now and again when i wear a sage or a peach and look good.

also that hat looks VERY exciting! is it going to be a cap/fitted style or a loose/tam-ish style?

I have never felt comfortable with the "seasonal" colours. According to that site, I am a winter skinned, august haired. What? Everyone is just unique, and in your case that blue definitely compliments your eyes!

I tried looking into this in August 2008 (according to my blog) and I've actually found it pretty useful to have a list of the colours that suit me. Once I really looked at the list I found that my favourite clothes that I felt the best in did fit the profile and I've tried to stick vaguely to the idea when buying clothes. It is strangely more difficult when buying yarn as it is easier to think 'Ooh pretty colour' without thinking it through but I do try.

And it doesn't stop you buying lurid sock yarn :)

It's funny how wide the categories are, really, since I'm a clear winter, also (though slowly cooling as my hair becomes increasingly salt and peppered) and I love the bright fuchsias and purples, along with bright reds and blues. Yellow, however, makes me look ill!

Oooh gorgeous hat! I love that yellow too. I just checked my colours & apparently I'm a "soft summer" - luckily the colours listed make up the main components of my wardrobe, UNluckily that means I don't have an excuse to do more shopping. hmph! Xx

I love the new hat! I love the color too. I have never seen anyone look bad in that shade of yellow. The good thing about a hat is that it's just a touch of color. You might not want to wear that shade head to toe, but you can have fun with it in a hat.
I'm looking forward to the pattern. Now off to check out my colors. :)

Way cute hat! I will eagerly awaiting the pattern :D

I never really like the colors that are suggested for me either. While I maybe look good in pastels with my blonde hair and pinkish undertones in my skin...I pretty much hate them. I agree, wear what makes you feel good...and don't be afraid to step out of your normal comfort zone...because I thought you looked great in your blue hat.

There's a definite difference between being blue-eyed and wearing a blue hat and being blue-eyed and wearing blue eyeshadow and the blue hat really does suit you. Looking at the yellow new one, I'm envious!! Gorgeous colour, yet I'm a strawberry-blonde with freckles and that colour is a certain no-no for me! :)

Now I'm off to learn about -my- colours!! ;)
